Lakeyta Brown, JD graduated magna cum laude from Wayne State University with a Bachelor of Arts Degree C–Majoring in Political Science and History and a Minor in Psychology. She then attended Wayne State University Law School, obtaining her Juris Doctor Degree in 1984.
From 1982 through 1984 she interned at The Neighborhood Legal Services providing legal assistance to indigents while she also worked for the United Auto Workers SE Michigan Community Action Program dedicated to combining the efforts of the Union Officials with Politicians and Celebrities to support community development. In 1984 after admission to the State Bar of Michigan, she began practicing law through a labor union sponsored legal practice then went on to private law practice dedicated exclusively or primarily to the representation of Social Security claimants, the disabled, and the unemployed throughout the United States. In 2001, she relocated to Atlanta, Georgia, was admitted to the State Bar of Georgia and continued representing Social Security disability claimants throughout Georgia and the Southeastern United States.
She has worked since 1986 as an advocate representing disabled individuals fighting disability claims before the Social Security Administration, developing legal service projects to assist Social Security claimants, and pushing for the implementation of the Social Security Administration’s legal guideline as high as the Supreme Court of the United States.
